D is for Despair

“Honey, you there?” He called from the bed, sitting up and looking right at her; looking right past her.

“I’m right here.” she whispered gently ignoring the fact that her voice had made him jump. She reached out and held his hand softly, and through the small touch she could feel the panic ease from his body as the pain and despair took over.

A small tear rolled down his cheek.
